THE WEST COURTYARD WING

The self contained Courtyard Wing can be found to the rear of the main house. It has its own entrance through an enclosed landscaped courtyard and can sleep up to 17 people within six bedrooms. The building, which was originally called Abercamlais Isaf, was the first dwelling on the Penpont site dating from before 1650. Following the construction of the Mansion house it subsequently became the servants’ quarters. It is reached by a flight of steep wooden stairs to the first floor and occupies the first and second floors of the west wing.

There is full central heating throughout, with warmth being provided by the large Biomass boiler

The Kitchen is spacious and well equipped with a large table to seat everyone; there are 2 fridges, dishwasher, microwave, warming cabinet & CD player. Freezer space and washing machine are available & located in the main house.

The internet can be accessed via a WiFi broadband connection in the Stables, next to the wing. Please note you will need to bring your own laptop

In the Courtyard there is a boiler room to dry boots & coats and in the old wash house is a ping pong table.  There is plenty of space to store bikes etc in the servants’ hall.
For the warmer and dryer months there are tables and chairs in the courtyard along with a BBQ and home produced charcoal.  A new terrace to the south of the courtyard was  constructed in 2008 next to the historic 1828 conservatory.

Guests are welcome to explore the grounds and gardens, and there is plenty of information available about the area and ‘what to do’.  We are normally on hand to give information on local walks and events.
