Cwmsefin Farm

Cwmsefin Farm is a 110-acre holding on the Penpont Estate at the start of a fascinating journey. We are developing the farm in partnership with Action for Conservation to inspire the next generation of environmentalists, farmers and growers. Our goal is to farm with natural processes, enhancing soils and biodiversity, and producing delicious food for our local community. If it isn’t good for nature, it isn’t good for us.

In 2020, we began conducting a range of baseline surveys - plant life, animal life and soil health - to help inform our farm management plans. In 2021, we welcomed a herd of ecosystem engineers to the site - Longhorn and Welsh Black cattle - prized for their hardy character and flavorsome meat. The cattle join our flock of Shropshire sheep, another rare breed, specialized for grazing amongst trees.

We’ve made good headway to restoring the farm’s buildings, planting thousands of trees with school groups and local volunteers, identifying areas for hay meadow restoration and future orchards systems.
