Outdoor Education

A cornerstone of the Penpont Project is our partnership with Action for Conservation, a charity which has brought hundreds of young people to Penpont to learn, lead and take action for nature.

Since 2019, more than 380 young people have taken part in over 2,400 hours of hands-on learning, conservation work and nature-based experiences through programmes including the Youth Leadership Group, Penpont Rangers, artist residencies, schools visits and youth group engagement.

The impact of this partnership extends far beyond time spent on the land here at Penpont. The vast majority of participants report increased wellbeing, a stronger connection to nature and greater motivation to pursue environmental pathways, with many progressing into further study, volunteering and careers in the nature sector. By giving young people a meaningful role in shaping the future of the landscape, Penpont and Action for Conservation are helping to nurture the next generation of environmental leaders and changemakers.

“Being involved in The Penpont Project has been one of the best things that I’ve ever done. Not only is it really important in terms of restoring nature to Penpont, but it is also key in showing how valuable youth leadership and engagement can be.”
